Louisdog's Latest This and That

Hello to all my furends and hello November!
It is time for another session of Louisdog's This and That.

THIS

For all of the anipals who blog, I thought you would like this. The dogs will especially relate:

THAT

I want to thank Dory fur hosting a spooktacular Howleen pawty last night. It was amazing. Food, lots to do and so many furends.  This is what I looked like at the pawty. I was dressed as a human.

THIS

Hazuzu has been playing basketball. He is actually pretty good. All of that mousie chasing has kept him in good shape.  I wonder if there is an NBA for kitties.

And while I am on the subject of Hazuzu, I want to thank him fur the guest post that he wrote on Caturday. I don't really approve of how he went on and on about how handsome he is, but that is how he is.  He is basically a furry good kitty and he always has my back.

THAT

What do you think of this selfie?  That soft thing with the anipal prints on it is Mimi's slipper.  She luvs animal things as well as soft things. She also wearsher jammies and slippers a lot!

THIS

Scientific fact: All dogs share a special connection because we are all descended from wolves. To me this is amazing. Even though dogs can appear very different, we have more similarities than differences.

In our house we all luff wolves.

 THAT

Mimi believes in fairies. She thinks that if she makes a fairy garden that the real fairies will feel comfortable there and move in. This is one of the fairy gardens that Mimi made. It was in front of our house.

Well, that is enough of this and that fur now.
I hope you enjoyed it!

Hazuzu's Guest Post

Hello to all of Blogville and beyond! oonThis is Hazuzu. For the past three months, Louis has been asking me to give him a break and write a guest post. Finally, I agreed, just to shut him up. Make him be quiet. Give me some peace.
It is Caturday afternoon. I am writing this blog post as a favor to my brother-dog, Louis. Louis asked me many times over the past few months to be his guest blogger, but I have always been too busy. Finally, however, I agreed, if only to make him be quiet. Sometimes Louis can be quite annoying.

I did have other plans for this afternoon. I was planning to put my paws up, grab some fishy treats and watch a few episodes of The Adventures of Puss in Boots on Netflix. This was the purrfect day for that. The rain was pouring down, it was cold and the hunting was lousy. The mousies all burrowed into their nests. They don't like the rain any more than I do.

Have any of you seen the Puss in Boots series? It's my favorite. Most of the kitties in our neighbourhood agree that the hero, Puss, is a lot like moi, in looks as well as in catitude.

Pus in Boots
We are both very good looking. Fluffy orange furs, magnifico tails, eyes that mesmerize,

The similarities do not end with our handsomeness. Both of us are free spirits. We are amazing hunters, we have a way with the lady cats and we are always ready for adventure.

Puss in Boots is a lot like me.

You can see why I enjoy watching Puss in Boots on Netflix. Mimi, Eric and Louis like it too, Puss is  totally cool cat.

If you would like to see what it is all about, take a look at this. We will be watching it later tonight.

Do you remember my Talk Like a Pirate photo? Dressed as a pirate, I looked a lot like Puss in Boots, don't you think?

My Talk Like a Pirate photo
You can see we have the same kind of style. We don't know whether we are outlaws or heroes.

I think I have said enough.
It's time for me to wander into the kitchen to see what is in my bowl.
I'll have a bite to eat and then I'll choose one of my comfy paces to have a little nap.

I'm loving the life I live.

Very Special Mail

Guess what special thing came in the mail?
I'll give you three clues:

1. It has to do with the colour pink.
2. It commemorates a beautifur dog who crossed the Rainbow Bridge.
3. It raises awareness fur a furry impawtant cause.

Did you guess ANGEL GRETA PIN? Well that is what came, and it is pawsome! Mabel, Hazel and Bailey's mom from Idaho Pugranch sent it.

Beautifur Angel Greta

Most of you must already know this, but I didn't, so I want to explain. Mabel, Baile and Hazel's mom is furry special, brave and strong because  she went through the challenges of breast cancer. She was also furry fortunate because she survived. To raise awareness and at the same time to commemorate Angel Greta, Idaho Pugranch mom sends out these wonderfur pins that have a picture of Angel Greta on them.

On the pin, Angel Greta  wears a pink breast cancer ribbon around her neck and on the card she is dressed in a lovely pink harness. It matches her pink tongue.

I never knew Angel Greta but I wish I had. She looks like the kind of dog that all of Blogville would want fur a furend.

You can read about how to request a pain and about Angel Greta's life here:

How I Became Mom's "Pink" Dog

This is the last week for the pins, so if you want one you should ask now!

Mimi was planning to put ours on my jacket but she thinks it looks so pretty on the card that she is keeping it together for awhile.

On the card it says:
"Thank you for supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. Love, Angel Greta"

and

"When you choose hope, anything is possible."

So thank you to the Idaho Pugranch fur this wonderfur mail!

A Question and Two Furends

A Question fur Blogville:

This is a question. I want to pawticipate in the Blogville Christmas Card Exchange but I don't know how to sign up. I would really appreciate it if someone would please let me know.
My unsociable kitty-brother doesn't know it yet, but I plan to sign him up as well. He can take time off from mousie hunting to send out some cards.

Hazuzu checking the 'hood fur mousies

Two Furends:

This morning while I was taking Mimi fur a walk, I ran into my firends Shady and Bruiser. We just had to do a little butt-sniffing.
Shady, Bruiser and me

Then we had to share a group hug!
I luff these guys!

By the time that was over, our leashes were all tangled!

Those leashes are so annoying!
As you can see, Shady and Bruiser are really nice dogs. Here they are, leaving with their mom:

Such pawsome furends!

That's All Fur Now Folks!

A Letter From Louis

Dear Blogville Furrends,

I thought I would write a letter to everybuddy, just to let you know how grrrateful I am fur my Blogville furrends.

A letter from Louis

A dog's life is shorter than an elephant's so it is impawtant to make the most of evfurry day.  Part of making the most of today is to write to my furrends.

Furst I want to say that I feel blessed to be part of Blogville. I have only been here since July, but it has changed my woofy life. Already I have received gold medals fur the Blogville Pawlympics, I have attended some pawsome pawties and I was able to pawticipate in some pirate adventures on Talk Like a Pirate Day.

One thing coming up that I am looking forward to is an interview with Bacon. Bacon, the sassy pot bellied pig, found me wandering on the streets of Blogville. He invited me to pawticipate in his "Spotlight Thursday" interview on Thursday, October 20th. I plan to be there!

More impawtant than the activities, pawever, is the beautifur furends I have made. Everybuddy in Blogville is kind, encouraging and welcoming. Blogging anipals and their peeps have always had the time to help me with anything I have needed help with. It has been wonderfur.

Speaking of beautifur furrends, Astro was welcomed to Blogville on the same day as me. I know he luvves it here too. Astro is my good furrend and I hope you will visit him at his blog.

I am also grrratefur that Blogville welcomed my kitty-brother, Hazuzu, with open paws. Hazuzu is not pawticularly sociable, but Blogville could see that he is definitely lovable.

Blogville welcomed Hazuzu with open paws

What I am trying to say in this letter is

THANK YOU BLOGVILLE!!

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving. Fur Hazuzu and me it is an opportunity to stuff ourselves with yummy turkey.

Kitties and dogs dreams come true!

The pawpose of this holiday is fur peeps to remember to be thankful and to give thanks.

As you pawbably know, the "First Thanksgiving" was celebrated by the first English settlers in North America after their first harvest. This was in 1621. The feast lasted three days, and was attended by 90 indigenous First Nations people and 53 pilgrims. We don't know how many dogs. The pilgrims were very hungry when they furst arrived in North America but the First Nations people taught them about the wild turkeys that lived in the region. This literally saved their butts from starvation. This is why we always have turkey, along with autumn vegetables, at our Thanksgiving dinners.

Peeps all over North America have celebrated this holiday ever since, although Canada and the United States do it on different days. Back in 1621, pawever, Canada and the USA had not yet been formed.

This painting is called The First Thanksgiving. It was painted by Jean Leon Gerome Ferris in 1899. Mimi says that Ferris romanticized the first Thanksgiving by adding elements that are unrealistic but appealing to the emotions. Pawsonally, I like the painting because it has a dog who is watching the plate of turkey. There is nothing unrealistic about that!

See the dog getting in on the turkey!

Here in Canada we have a long weekend. Tomorrow (Monday) is a statutory holiday. Most peeps with dogs would see this as a good oppawtunity to take their dogs out to somewhere special, but not Mimi!

In our pack family, Thanksgiving is a day when we all think about what we are grrateful for in our lives. At the dinner, the peeps go around the table and everybuddy says things they are thankful for.

Mimi is being selfish. She sees the Thanksgiving long weekend as a great chance to binge watch the Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries on Netflix. She has abandoned her responsibilities and has watched fifteen episodes in the past three days. I don't get it!

Miss Fisher puts Hazuzu and me to sleep. Here I am in front of episode 13:

Good night! There are no dogs in this programme!
Miss Phrynie Fisher is a private detective and this is what she looks like:

Mimi has abandoned her life to watch this person.

This is not the first time Mimi has done this. It happened with Bones, Prison Break, Downton Abbey, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and more that this dog can even remember. What the cat and I have learned through all of this is that she goes into an altered state of consciousness where she becomes irresponsible. Dishes pile up, my walks are shorter, she doesn't leave the house. She quits baking and makes the easiest meals. Pawever, she will come out of it eventually, once the series is over. we just have to wait.

Meanwhile, we have enough food, water and treats. And now there is turkey.

Hazuzu and wish you all, anipals and peeps and especially our Blogville furends

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Louis here... As you may know, Sammy, at One Spoiled Cat , thoroughly enjoys poetry. Every Thursday he challenges everybuddy who likes writing poetry to create a poem, based on a letter of the alphabet. This week it is the letter "Q".

It was the beautifur kitty Madi from Madi and Mom who first inspired me to join Sammy and to write a poem.

Here is my "Q" poem:

Quickly

Quickly to my food bowl,
To eat, eat, eat,
Quickly to my Eric
Fur a treat, treat, treat.

Quickly to my bed,
Fur a nap, nap, nap,
Quickly to my Mimi
Fur her lap, lap, lap.

What do you think? It isn't exactly Shakespeare, but it's mine.

A Beautifur Day

Yesterday I represented the anipal kingdom fur St. Francis' Day at my church. I was so happy and I felt so honoured. Everybuddy, not counting humans, with fins, feathers, scales, skin and fur received a blessing through me. Every earthworm and every eagle.
All worms are included!

This wasn't the furst time I have done this. I represented the anipal kingdom last year, as well.

Do you remember how I was worried about making a mistake like peeing in the wrong place at the wrong time?  Well nothing like that happened. Everything was pawfect.

Also, Everybuddy was so nice to me.  But it was not really about me. It was about St. Francis who loved all of the anipals. He knew how special we are. There are stories about how St. Francis communicated with birds and anipals.

Here I am with our Priest
St. Francis also loved the environment and he called the sun his brother, the earth his mother and the moon his sister.

Well thanks fur stopping by. I appreciate your visits.

Getting Ready Fur My Big Day!

Tomorrow is an impawtant day fur me because I will be representing all of the anipal kingdom at our church for the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi. I am honoured that I will receive a special blessing on behalf of every creature from the smallest insect to the largest whale.
This is the poster of the event. The photo is the one I used in the Sitting Pretty event at the Blogville Pawlympics.

Mimi wanted me to look my furry best tomorrow, so I went to Spa Dog this afternoon. My friend Kaylee gave me a furcut. Now I feel soft all over.
I think my tail looks pretty good. What do you think?

My brand new furcut
I didn't like it when Kaylee cleaned my teeth  and my ears.
I didn't like it when Kaylee clipped my nails.
I did like it when she brushed my fur.

The big problem is that I am white and close to the ground. When I go fur walks in the rain, I get all muddy.

Please cross your paws fur me - I just hope I don't make a mistake and pee in the church or something. I'll let you know how it goes.

Until Next Time,
Louis Dog Armstrong
