I feel as if I was swept away by a tidal wave.
In the furst place, Mimi has been distracted by things related to Grandma Rose. Do you remember Grandma Rose? Fur those who don't, she is Mimi's 93-year-old mother, who lives in Victoria. We live in Vancouver.
Last week. Grandma Rose moved to a residential care facility where she will be able to receive the care she needs. It is a nice place with kind staff and what Mimi and her sister call "a good vibe". So far Grandma Rose likes it, but it has only been six days.
This time, when Mimi went to see Grandma Rose, she took me with her. This was sensible, because I have a good influence on elderly peeps. After all, I am a medicine dog. Most dogs are.
My uncle Chris is one of Grandma Rose's grandsons. He came with us, making the trip even more special.
Here I am in the car, waiting in the ferry lineup:
Beside me is my Uncle Chris. |
I have known Grandma Roseever since I was a little puppy and we love each other and I am always happy to see her. I am sure that I make her happy.
Here we are together:
Grandma Rose with me, in Victoria |
Grandma Rose has a few problems. One is that she chokes on her food, so everything has to be ground up like baby food, and even then it is sometimes difficult for her to get it down. I know what ground up food is like. Have you looked at canned dog food lately? I definitely have a special understanding of what she is going through, so I give her tons of kisses and love.
Besides being good medicine fur Grandma Rose, I have been encouraging Mimi who has been helping to take care of her good friend who is in his last stage of life. She makes meals fur him and sits with him because he can't be alone any more. Mimi says he is an amazing peep who made a huge positive difference in her life. She says that love is the most impawtant ingredient in the food she makes fur him. She is learning that cooking can be a sacred art.
Also, Mimi has been editing a book that someone is writing. She spends a lot of time reading it, making suggestions and talking to the author. Fur me this is troublesome because I can hardly get on the computer!
I need to mention that the dead lion fur entries to the Blogville Comedy Film Festival "Laughter is the Best Medicine" is fast approaching. We only have three entries - and one is from my brother Hazuzu the Cat who I had to force into it. If you can, please send a link to a funny video.
The Comedy Film Festival is sponsored by the Blogville Department of Arts and Entertainment.

I sent in an entry! I'll get my kitty brofur to send one in tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you back Louis, but believe me, Gail and I totally understand that you have been away on important business, helping Mimi help Grandma Rose. We are also very pleased that your precious Grandma is now in a place with a 'good vibe'. A good vibe is exactly what Gail felt when she first went to look at the care home where my Human Granny has now been living contentedly for the last two years, and so we have fingers and paws crossed that the move continues to work well for your HGY.
ReplyDeleteToodle pip!

ReplyDeleteBless your Mimi for helping get your Grandma Rose in a safe place AND for helping her friend who is at end stage of life.....both situations are very tough and your Mimi is giving them both what they need the most..............LOVE.

ReplyDelete"...cooking is a sacred art..." That was the centre of this post today Louis-dog... Love with the capital 'ell' written all over it. Blessings to you for being a support to Mimi as she deals with all the caring. Thanks too for the reminder; all that travelling has addled my already frail memory!!! Will get onto. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Welcome back! Boy, you have been busy with some important business. You and Grandma Rose are too cute together!
ReplyDeleteLouis...Mimi is a very wonderful lady to help her friend...and be there for him now.
ReplyDeleteMy mom's mom was in the memory unit of an assisted living facility the last year of her life. She enjoyed being with others like herself and was no long 'forced' to try to remember things.
Mom has been looking for a video of me in particular that we'll try to send...if we can find it. MOLMOL
Hugs madi your bfff
Oh Louis Dog Armstrong I feel for you taking care of elderly peeps is a hard struggle with a lot of tears. Lee has no family what so ever now. She was the caregiver to all. I was thinking and thinking about your Blogville Comedy Film Festival and nothing jumps into my mind. We watch sweet videos but comedy. We did a little ditty of sketching video and the song All God's creatures got a place in the choir which Frankie loved but that is not really comedy.
ReplyDeleteDid you see our Rusty Patched Bumble Bee endangered species was one of a number of species our new government officials took off the list. Put on taken off the same month ~ Craps!
Thanks for being a friend
Sweet William The Scot
Hi Louis...mom just sent you a short video link I hope it works and you can add it to the post.
ReplyDeleteHugs Madi
PS let us know if you need anything else
We are so happy that Grandma Rose likes it in the Nursing home but we wish she didn't choke on her food. I know she LOVED seeing you! When my father-in-law was in a Nursing Home (with Altzheimer's) they allowed us to bring Dakota. The residents used to love seeing Dakota and my father-in-law did too. Woofies help so much. xoxo DakotasDen
ReplyDeleteOh, your Grandma Rose looks like a VERY sweet lady!
