Hazuzu's Endangered Species

Hazuzu the Cat here... It is Caturday so I thought I would give my bro Louis a break and write on his blog. He is busy sleeping.I think he is dreaming about Cricket, the love of his life.

I missed the Endangered Species Challenge, but I really wanted to join it, so I am glad that Louis has kept it open.  The endangered animal that I am writing about is the Pygmy Mouse Lemur.

Actually, I am much bigger than this little guy.
I decided to defend this little guy, even though he is sort of a kind of mousie. But he is a mousie that no kitties should ever touch.  Even though I am known in my 'hood as an excellent mouser, I would never hurt a pygmy mouse lemur.

Actually, he seems like mart mousie and part monkey. Whatever he is, he is a sweet little creature that should  be protected.
I had to go to a forest in West Madagascar to find this species because he doesn't live anywhere else.
Here are the facts:
1. They are the smallest primates in the world. Each one is about the size of a teacup.  Its head and body are less than 2 1/2 inches long.
2. They are extremely rare. There are eight species of them, some of which were only discovered in the past few years.
3.  They live in the trees and rarely leave their homes, sleeping all day and foraging for food at night.  Pygmy mouse lemurs are  omnivores.
4. Pygmy Mouse Lemurs live in female-dominated groups of about fifteen. The females hibernate during the dry season, during which time the males become more active.
5. These animals store fat in their hind legs and tails.
6. Pygmy Mouse Lemurs are endangered because of the illegal exotic pet trade but they are most threatened by the continual loss of the forests in which they live.
Thank you for reading about my endangered pygmy mouse lemur. I hope they can survive!

Endangered Species Late Entries and More...

I am feeling grateful that so many Blogvillians pawticipated in the Endangered Species Challenge. I really do believe that anipals like us might be able to make a difference. I am hoping that our voices will be heard.

There are a few Blogville residents who missed the January 15th dead lion fur entries, but who still want to pawticipate.  I have told the ones I know of that if they send me their entries I will add them to the ones that have been published on the Blogville Arts and Entertainment site.

It seems like a good idea to keep the Endangered Species Challenge open out of fairness to the endangered anipals that latecomers wish to help.

So if you would like to speak up fur an endangered species and you haven't already, just let me know.

If you go over to the Arts and Entertainment site, please "follow" it. This will help us become stronger.

Now fur a bit about what is going on in Louisdog's life.

Mimi had friends over fur tea. I love it when this happens because I get to watch a lot of food.

"Please pass me some of that banana bread..."
Then our friend, Nelly-Jo came over and gave me a bath. I love Nelly-Jo because she likes to play squeaky toy games with me.

Snuggling after my bath.

Well that's it fur now.

Badges fur Blogs

Badges fur Endangered Species Pawticipants

Yesterday I promised to have badges ready fur all of the Endangered Species Challenge pawticipants. I know that it is late in the day, but here they are. I made two different ones, so you can choose the one you like best.

The badges are to place on your sidebar so your visitors can see that you care about the endangered anipals. If you link the badge to the Blogville Arts and Entertainment website, they can see all of the entries. This way we can draw attention to the endangered species in an ongoing way.

I hope you like them. I am using the elephant one. you can see it to the right, on my sidebar.

Here they are:

If you want to link the badge to our challenge entries, this is the URL:

Once again I want to thank everybuddy in Blogville for caring about our endangered brothers and sisters.

Endangered Species Challenge

Hello to Everybuddy!

I am happy to say that the entries for the Blogville Arts and Emtertainment Department Endangered Species Challenge  are ready for you to see.

Furst, however, I want to thank all of the anipals who accepted the challenge and worked so hard to bring attention to endangered species all over the world. It is so sad that so many anipals are suffering and facing the possibility, and even the likelihood, of extinction.  It's enough to make this grown dog cry.

Second, I would like to ask all of you to please spread word about the Endangered Species Challenge to all of your networks. If we work together the residents of Blogville might be able to make a difference fur these animals.

If you like, you can use this collage on your blog:

Blogville cares!

Now I am furry happy to invite you to come and see our new Blogville Arts and Entertainment website.  All of the Endangered Species Challenge entries are there so people will be able to see them at any time  and as the months progress our other projects will be placed there as well.

The Blogville Arts and Entertainment website is dedicated to all of Blogville.

I hope you enjoy it!

Please help by following it!  At the moment there are only two followers - Ann from Zoolatry and me! Ann did all of the graphic design.

Also, if you have any ideas fur how to improve it, please let me know. It is a work in progress.

And please spread the word about the new site. Anipals and peeps from everywhere can go there to find out what Blogville thinks about endangered species!

This is the URL:  http://blogvillearts.blogspot.ca/

I am making a badge fur all of the pawticipants. It will be available tomorrow.

THANK YOU BLOGVILLE!!

Louisdog is in Love

There are two reasons why I haven't posted fur the past few days. The furst is because I have been busy  working in the new Blogville administration. We have been quite busy setting everything up. And of course we need to have a lot of breaks fur treats, puppicinos and naps.

The second reason is that I have been painting a portrait of the love of my life.
Her name is CRICKET.
Cricket has a combination of gracefulness and energy that amazes me. I can't help loving her, and the wonderfur thing is that she loves me back! That is why she said she will come to Murphy and Stanley's Valentines Pawty with me.

I finished the painting. Do you think she will like it?

I just finished this painting of Cricket.
Cricket is everything I ever wanted in a grrlfriend.  I am a lucky dog!

PS Don't furget to come to the Valentines Pawty!

There is a lot going on in Blogville. Here is some information about our phodography challenge and a pawty.

This is a reminder that the dead lion for submissions to the Arts and Entertainment Endangered Species Challenge is January 15th. It is sponsored by the Blogville Department of Arts and Entertainment.

All of the entries will be published on January 25th.

Here I am with some endangered Ethiopian wolves!

BLOGVILLE JANUARY 2017 CHALLENGE

SPONSORED BY THE BLOGVILLE DEP'T OF ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

ENDANGERED SPECIES

The challenge is to take a phodograph of yourself with an endangered species of your choice, and then write a bit about the species you chose. The written part can be as short or as long as you like, but it must at least identify the species and say something about it.

The point of this challenge is to increase awareness of how so many of our anipal brothers and sisters are in danger of completely disappearing from the earth. If a community of dogs and cats write about it, maybe the whole world will take notice!

Email your submissions to me at louisbloggingdog@gmail.com.

The dead lion is January 15, 2017 and I hope to have everybuddy's work posted by January 25th.

All pawticipants will receive a badge fur bringing awareness to endangered species. If you like you can place this on your blog.

Valentines Day Pawty

I also wanted to let you know that Murphy and Stanley are hosting a Valentines Day dance pawty.

You can find out all about it at  Murphy and Stanley's blog.

Valentines Day Pawty!

I plan to be there. I'll be asking Cricket if she will come as my date, so cross your paws fur me, hoping she says yes!

Well that's it fur today. As you can see it was not a Wordless Wednesday!

Snowy Days

Hello to All my Furends,
This has been a cold and snowy winter. In fact, Mimi says that she can't remember any year in Vancouver when there has been so much snow in the city.

Even though it is cold, we are thankful for the beauty of it.
Hazuzu stays inside most of the time. He says that all of the mousies are burrowed under ground, and besides, on days like this he prefers the warmth of home.
Me, I love to bounce around in the snow.

Here is a photo of what Vancouver looks like. You can see the city below and the mountains above.

Blogville Arts and Entertainment 2

Hello Everybuddy!

This is Louis, writing from my office at the Blogville City Hall. Now that the election is over and Arty has been inagaurated, it's time fur me to get to work as Director of Arts and Entertainment. So far, I am lovin' this job!

Furst, I want you to know that I have an open office policy. This means that every Blogville resident is welcome to visit me in my office with your ideas and concerns related to the Arts and Entertainment department. I have a lot of treats here, as well as plenty of water, fresh veggies fur bunnies, and seeds fur birds. Do you have an idea fur an art project? Do you think we could improve? Just make an appointment by emailing me at louisbloggingdog@gmail.com. I'll make sure we get together.

I have an open office policy.
I want to let you know a few things about the Endangered Species Challenge. There have been a couple of questions that I should answer:

1. Q. Does the endangered species really have to be an anipal?

    A. When I dreamed up this challenge I thought that it would only be about anipals. Then I realized that some of the creative beings in Blogville may not wish to be confined with respect to this. As there are no rules in art, and this is an art phodography challenge, I leave it to you, the artist to decide how to create your entry.

2. Q. How can I pawticipate if I don't have Photoshop and can't edit photos?

    A. Furst, you should know that nobuddy needs Photoshop fur this. It is furry expensive and hard to figure out. Photoshop gives Mimi a headache. As far as I know, most Blogville residents use Pizap, which is simple and free.
Second , and this is impawtant, This coming Monday, Jakey from Dory's Back Yard will be giving a tutorial on how to use Pizap.
Third, you can always take a photo of yourself with a picture of an endangered species, or you can bring one up on your computer screen and take a photo of that.

Actually, I learned everything I need to know about Pizap from Dory's Back Yard. There is a page there where it is explained so clearly that even Mimi could follow it with no trouble.

Here is an example of a picture that was edited with Pizap/ It is of my grrrlfriend Cricket and me at Dory's pawty;

Isn't Cricket beautifur?

Somebuddy said I look like James Bond in that photo.

Finally, I want to remind you that the dead lion fur the Endangered Species challenge is January 15, 2017.  You can always email me if you have any questions.

Blogville Arts and Entertainment

I pawmise to do my best!
Hello Blogville:

This is Louis Dog Armstrong, Director of Arts and Entertainment for the new Blogville administration. I thought I would let you know what to expect in the area of entertainment and the arts in 2017.

Furst, pawever, I want you to know that fur me this is a serious pawsition. I plan to do my best fur all af Blogville.

I also want to, at this time, thank Arty fur trusting me and appointing me to this pawsition. I pawmise to do my furry best!

My goal for the Arts and Entertainment department is to create projects and challenges that Blogville residents will enjoy.

During 2017 the Department of Arts and Entertainment will sponsor various projects and challenges fur Blogville citizens to pawticipate in if they so wish. These will be announced approximately every month.  Some will be designed to make the world a better place fur anipals, some will decorate Blogville itself while others will be just fur fun.  We can even do some travelling, thanks to our unlimited budget!

All of our projects and challenges will involve the arts in some way and I hope they will all be entertaining.

Fur some of the challenges and projects, the A & E Department will award badges that you can place on your blogs, just fur pawticipating.

I hope that you will enjoy having fun with the A and E Department in the year to come.

Now, before I go over to the Idaho Pug Ranch fur the Inauguration Lawn Pawty, I want to announce the first A & E challenge:

EXAMPLE OF PHODOGRAPH AND WRITE-UP:

Here I am with Ethiopian Wolves.
There are only three species of wolves in all of Africa and the Ethiopian wolf is one of them. This wolf is in trouble because it is the most endangered canine anipal in the world.
These wolves live in the high mountains of Ethiopia. They lead complex social lives that fascinate the scientists who try to protect them.  All dogs have evolved from wolves, so I chose the Ethiopian wolf because he is my cousin.

Impawtant Announcement

As you all know, we will be having the Blogville inauguration ceremonies tomorrow. At the same time, I will be announcing the furst challenge fur 2017, sponsored by the new Department of Arts and Entertainment. Fur now I am calling it the January challenge.

The January challenge will be announced tomorrow on my blog, Louisdog's Life, which will be part of the blog hop from Dory's Back Yard.  It will mainly involve phodography, with a bit of writing.

This is not a contest and all pawticipants will receive a badge.

So please come back tomorrow to read about the January challenge. I hope that many of the residents of Blogville will pawticipate. The more anipals, the more fun!
